Polishing and Finishing

This page serves as the launch point for more in depth articles on polishing and finishing techniques used in horology. For now, it covers finishing techniques with regards mainly to watch movements, but in the future we hope it will expand to include cases and clocks, as well as various means of burnishing and blueing.

You can help expand what's here simply by logging in and clicking on the 'edit' link on this and or any other page on Alliance Horlogère. Or you can start new article by creating a new link from this page. For more help editing, check out the editing help page.

The video on the right exhibits a number of polishing and finishing techniques used in the fabrication of a typical Patek Philippe movement.
