Glossary/Soft Iron

Soft Iron

Soft iron is used in the domain of mechanical watches to act as anti-magnetic shielding against external fields of magnetic energy. It is also a critical material in the making of analog quartz watches as it is used to form the core of the electromagnet that drives the motor, which drives the hands.
