Glossary/Anchor Escapement
Anchor Escapement
The anchor escapement is the most commonly used escapement used in house clocks. It is a recoil escapement. The escapement is composed of an anchor, with two pallets, and one escape wheel.
The pallets do not rest or lock, as in the lever escapement, and the recoil is far more evident in the anchor escapement than in the lever escapement. There is, however, one form of the lever escapement with a very wide impulse pin that is referred to as an anchor escapement.
