Glossary/Albion

Albion

Albion is a colloquialism meaning 'all-by-one' or 'all made by one man'.

It is also the name falsely given to an astronomical clock made by Richard of Wallingford and placed in the south transept of St. Albans Abbey in the fourteenth century. It was actually a geometrical instrument he constructed.
