About the Alliance Horlogère Project
Alliance Horlogère was founded by three watchmaking students from l'École Nationale d'Horlogerie in Trois-Rivières, Québec, in 2007. Its founding members, Grigor Garebedian, Germain Bouniot, and Jonathan Edwards were frustrated with the difficulty of finding reliable and quality horological information for watchmakers on the Internet and yearned for a solution.
Built on the same technology used by Wikipedia, the concept behind Alliance Horlogère is to provide a platform where watchmakers and watchmaking enthusiasts from all walks of life can come together and share. The content remains evergreen and is constantly being improved through peer review. Discussion pages for each article provide an open venue for discourse on conflicts of opinion and to field questions left unanswered by the content that is already available on the site.
Horology has consistently pushed the boundaries of technology through the ages. It is our hope to bring the fantastic wealth of information available through books and the incredibly valuable, retiring generation of watchmakers, into the twenty-first century.
